Shady Acres Health & Rehabilitation partnered with Therapy Group of Texas in 2012 to provide therapy services to their Residents. It was only natural that the “family taking care of families” recruited the “hometown therapists taking care of home town people.” Shady Acres Health & Rehabilitation provides Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Restorative Services. Shady Acres Health & Rehabilitation provides Residents with an experienced interdisciplinary therapy team that develops and delivers quality, client centered patient care. We offer a full range of professional therapy services that include short term rehabilitation, transition planning, and post-operative care.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy focuses on developing skills needed to function as independently as possible. The term occupation is used to capture the depth and meaning of “everyday activity.” It is skilled treatment designed to restore, improve, or adapt the “skills for the job of living.” Occupational Therapists help people accomplish their daily living tasks, learn new skills, adapt to permanent losses, fulfill their life roles, and participate fully as possible in life.
Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy remediates impairments and promotes mobility, function, and quality of life. Physical Therapy focuses on treatment intervention that uses different exercise techniques and equipment designed to assist people in improving their physical abilities. The ultimate goal is to restore normal movement and function, as well as resolving problems like weakness, pain, or lack of motion.
Speech Therapy
Speech Language Pathology or Speech Therapy is a specialized form of care that focuses on improving communication skills, cognitive deficits, and swallowing abilities. Individuals that have difficulty swallowing are at risk to develop more serious conditions such as aspiration pneumonia. Speech Therapy is instrumental in restoring swallowing function and enhancing quality of life.
Restorative Nursing Program
Restorative Nursing Program works in conjunction with the therapy department to maintain maximum functional ability. Restorative aids are trained by the therapy department in techniques to prevent loss of function. This program focuses on maintaining newly acquired skills once residents transition from therapy services.
Our interdisciplinary team has experience in joint replacement and other orthopedic injuries, oncology recovery and strengthening, stroke and neurological conditions, burns, cardiac, and pulmonary.
